20/10/2013  Happy Valley  Race 1

After being mounted, GREAT ALEXANDER became fractious and threw its head back, resulting in M Chadwick, its rider, sustaining a deep laceration over the left eye. M Chadwick was stood down from this riding engagement and O Doleuze was substituted. Because of the late replacement of O Doleuze to ride GREAT ALEXANDER, there was a slight delay to the starting time of this race. Subsequently M Chadwick was stood down from his remaining riding engagements. INFINITE COURAGE was slow to begin. GREAT ALEXANDER began awkwardly and then shortly after the start became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by GRACYTOM which was racing keenly when being steadied to obtain a position with cover towards the rear of the field. Shortly after the start, JUST MISTERE raced tight between LUCKY RED and HAPPY GOAL which shifted in. Near the 600 Metres, SERENDIPITY was left racing wide and without cover. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, KOWLOON EAST KING got its head on the side and shifted out towards the hindquarters of GREAT ALEXANDER. INFINITE COURAGE, which was following, was checked away from the heels of KOWLOON EAST KING in consequence. KOWLOON EAST KING then made the Home Turn awkwardly. Near the 300 Metres, CHINA GOOD and JUST MISTERE raced tight and made contact. In the Straight, SERENDIPITY got its head on the side and lay in under pressure. Throughout the race, HAPPY GOAL travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of GREAT ALEXANDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CHINA GOOD, SUPER BROTHER and LUCKY RED were sent for sampling. <21/10/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that SERENDIPITY was found to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SERENDIPITY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
