Whilst in the saddling stalls, WINNING ADVANTAGE had its left front plate adjusted. WINNING ADVANTAGE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. From wide barriers, LA COTE DE BLEU, LOTUS LOVE and POWER BLITZ were all taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, ELEPHANT MAGIC was buffeted between SHANGHAI PIONEER and JUST MISTERE which shifted in. When being taken across behind runners, CLASSIC FIGURE proved difficult to settle in the early stages. SOLAR DRAGON proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions in the early stages. GORGEOUS LIFE lost its left front plate at the 1000 Metres. SHANGHAI PIONEER had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. A veterinary inspection of LOTUS LOVE immediately following the race revealed the horse to be a “roarer” which had previously been reported. BEAUTY KING and SOLAR DRAGON were sent for sampling.
