RENAISSANCE ART and EASTERN EXPRESS bumped at the start. THE ALFONSO shifted out at the start and bumped ANTICIPATION. From the outside barrier, HELENE PARAGON was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When the pace slackened after the 1200 Metres, a number of runners were hampered including HELENE PARAGON which proved very difficult to settle and had to be checked away from the heels of THE ALFONSO; FLAME HERO was awkwardly placed behind SECRET WEAPON which was being steadied away from the heels of RENAISSANCE ART; ANTICIPATION was consequently left racing wide and without cover and was allowed to improve its position around the field, however, was left racing wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. After the 1000 Metres, EASTERN EXPRESS was awkwardly placed behind ROMANTIC TOUCH which was being steadied away from the heels of HELENE SUPER STAR. For some distance in the early part of the Straight, SECRET WEAPON, which was inclined to lay in, had difficulty obtaining clear running and passing the 150 Metres was held up for a run behind EASTERN EXPRESS. Approaching the 300 Metres, HELENE PARAGON was held up for clear running. Passing the 100 Metres, ROMANTIC TOUCH, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room between GUN PIT and HARBOUR MASTER which was taken out by SECRET WEAPON which improved into tight running between HARBOUR MASTER and EASTERN EXPRESS. Over the concluding stages, EASTERN EXPRESS was awkwardly placed outside the heels of HORSE OF FORTUNE which shifted out marginally. EASTERN EXPRESS, HORSE OF FORTUNE and HELENE PARAGON were sent for sampling.
