NOBLE DE BOY was slow to begin. RAPHAEL and SICHUAN BOSS both began only fairly. DIEGO KOSTA and OUR FOLKS bumped at the start. From wide barriers, HAPPY LIFE and VICTORY MACHINE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 900 Metres, GENEROUS HEART momentarily raced tight inside the heels of POWERMAX. MR GENUINE, which was racing to the inside of GENEROUS HEART, was awkwardly placed as a consequence. STARSHIP made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly. Passing the 300 Metres, STARSHIP was shifted to the outside of WAH MAY BABY to obtain clear running. Approaching the 250 Metres, MR GENUINE and GENEROUS HEART raced tight as MR GENUINE shifted to the outside of POWERMAX after being disappointed for running between that horse and DIEGO KOSTA. Passing the 200 Metres, K C Ng (WAH MAY BABY) dropped his whip. STARSHIP lost its right front plate after the race. After the race, Apprentice K K Chiong (OUR FOLKS) reported that her saddle shifted back significantly approaching and rounding the Home Turn, placing her at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. Because of this, Apprentice Chiong dismounted from OUR FOLKS shortly after passing the winning post. Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination conducted on DIEGO KOSTA showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. MR GENUINE and POWERMAX were sent for sampling.
