BASIC TRILOGY began only fairly. SUPREME PROFIT and RENAISSANCE ART were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. After the 1300 Metres, when being steadied to allow HORSE OF FORTUNE to cross, PACKING DRAGON got its head up and proved difficult to settle. Approaching the 1000 Metres, HELENE SUPER STAR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPEEDY LONGWAH. Passing the 1000 Metres, DYNAMISM commenced to prove difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of CIRCUIT LAND for some distance. MARVEL HERO, which was following DYNAMISM, shifted out away from the heels of that horse and was then allowed to improve its position. When MARVEL HERO went forward, SUPREME PROFIT, which was following that horse, also improved its position, however, was forced to travel wide and without cover. After the race, Z Purton (SUPREME PROFIT) stated that he placed the horse under heavy pressure after the 500 Metres, however, it did not respond and rounding the Home Turn commenced to give ground. He said for this reason he eased it down over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of SUPREME PROFIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Near the 600 Metres, ANTICIPATION lay in towards the hindquarters of SPEEDY LONGWAH. A veterinary inspection of HORSE OF FORTUNE and BASIC TRILOGY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MARVEL HERO and DYNAMISM were sent for sampling.
