RIGHTEOUS MATE began very awkwardly and shifted in, resulting in GORGEOUS AGAIN being hampered. POWER MAN shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of GOOD FIT. After this, POWER MAN was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed. On jumping, HAY RUN was steadied to obtain a position with cover. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, both GOOD FIT and GORGEOUS AGAIN travelled keenly, resulting in GORGEOUS AGAIN shifting out away from the heels of HAY RUN near the 1500 Metres. Passing the 500 Metres, RIGHTEOUS MATE got its head on the side and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of GOOD FIT. Over the concluding stages, ENJOYABLE SUCCESS was awkwardly placed behind LUCKY SHINY DAY which shifted out under pressure. After the race, M L Yeung reported that it had been intended for ENJOYABLE SUCCESS to be ridden quietly, however, the horse began better than expected and he would have had to restrain it heavily in order to obtain cover towards the rear of the field. He said ENJOYABLE SUCCESS, when travelling more forward than anticipated, raced wide and without cover until near the 900 Metres at which time the horse was then able to shift in to race behind KING’S MAN. A veterinary inspection of HAY RUN and RIGHTEOUS MATE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, both horses were unable to be scoped due to being fractious. TRAVEL FIRST and KING’S MAN were sent for sampling.
