PHOTON WILLIE was slow to begin. BRAVE LEGEND shifted out at the start, resulting in NITRO EXPRESS being crowded for room inside SUPER FORM. In this incident, SUPER FORM became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by NITRO EXPRESS. From wide barriers, SALTO OLIMPICO and GONNA RUN were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After travelling a short distance, NITRO EXPRESS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BRAVE LEGEND when being shifted behind that horse. Passing the 1300 Metres, TOP LAURELS travelled keenly and proved difficult to settle when being steadied to obtain cover. Near the 1200 Metres, SUPER FORM was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 950 Metres, NITRO EXPRESS commenced to prove very difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of BRAVE LEGEND. Approaching and passing the 500 Metres, PHOTON WILLIE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RAZOR QUEST. At the entrance to the Straight, THUNDER STOMP became unbalanced when bumped by TOP LAURELS which shifted out to obtain clear running outside RIGHT CALL. Passing the 250 Metres, RAZOR QUEST was shifted to the outside of BULLISH SMART after being disappointed for running between that horse and THUNDER STOMP. When RAZOR QUEST was shifted to the outside of BULLISH SMART, PHOTON WILLIE was taken out and then shifted further away from that horse, resulting in PHOTON WILLIE and OUTLAWED racing tight. Close to the finishing line, GONNA RUN raced tight inside BULLISH SMART (J Moreira) which shifted in under pressure. J Moreira was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. In order to relieve the tightening to GONNA RUN, J Moreira stopped riding his mount over the final stages and directed that horse out. A veterinary inspection of TOP LAURELS, NITRO EXPRESS and SUPER FORM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. RAZOR QUEST and BULLISH SMART were sent for sampling.
