At declaration time, H T Mo was declared as the rider of both INTENTION and SIMPLE DOCTRINE. It was established that H T Mo had a firm commitment to ride SIMPLE DOCTRINE. As such, the Stewards permitted H W Lai to be substituted as the rider of INTENTION. For this declaration error, H T Mo was fined $2,000. GALAXY WITNESS and INTENTION were slow to begin. CARRY THE DIAMOND stumbled at the start and then was bumped by SIMPLE DOCTRINE which shifted out. BALTIC WHISPER and BEAUTY CHEERS bumped on jumping. After travelling a short distance, CARRY THE DIAMOND was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUPER CLASS which shifted in. In the early and middle stages, SPARKLING DOLPHIN lay in. Approaching the 400 Metres, SUPER CLASS brushed the hindquarters of FORTE when being shifted in away from the heels of SPARKLING DOLPHIN. K H Chan (SPARKLING DOLPHIN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 250 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting out, resulting in CARRY THE DIAMOND being taken out onto CIRCUIT SEVEN which was in turn taken out across the rightful running of BEAUTY CHEERS, causing BEAUTY CHEERS to be severely checked and CIRCUIT SEVEN to be checked. K H Chan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 23 January 2022 and to expire on Thursday, 27 January 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Chan was fined $10,000. Passing the 150 Metres, BALTIC WHISPER was shifted in away from the heels of SUPER CLASS. Then after the 100 Metres, BALTIC WHISPER shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside SUPER CLASS which itself shifted in marginally. A veterinary inspection of SPARKLING DOLPHIN, CIRCUIT SEVEN and BEAUTY CHEERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GALAXY WITNESS and EL JEFE were sent for sampling.
