SIGHT HERO, which got its left front leg over the partition whilst being transported to Happy Valley, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. On arrival at the Start, it was noted that A AMERIC TE SPECSO had blood in its mouth. A AMERIC TE SPECSO was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that in his opinion it was suitable to race. SIGHT HERO was fractious in the barriers prior to the start and was then slow to begin. SMILING CITY lost its left front plate at the start. Making the turn near the 1050 Metres, CHILL WAY shifted out when over-racing. TO INFINITY, which was following, was inconvenienced when having to be steadied in consequence. TRIUMPHANT RETURN over-raced in the middle stages. Passing the 600 Metres, SIGHT HERO became unbalanced and shifted out when being restrained off the heels of JUST GREAT TWO. This also resulted in EL JEFE, which was following, being inconvenienced when having to avoid the heels of SIGHT HERO. Rounding the Home Turn, TO INFINITY lay in. Near the 250 Metres, SMILING CITY (H Bowman) was inconvenienced when having to be shifted out to avoid the heels of MIRACLES which shifted out marginally. After the race, H Bowman reported that his mount had a tendency to lay out from the 600 Metres and after being inconvenienced in the Straight was competitive to the winning post. After passing the 100 Metres, A AMERIC TE SPECSO, which was making ground quickly, changed course and shifted out to obtain clear running and also to avoid the heels of MR FUN which shifted out slightly. A veterinary inspection of SIGHT HERO immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. A veterinary inspection of SMILING CITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MR FUN, BRAVE STAR and MIRACLES were sent for sampling.
