BRIGHT KID was slow to begin. AMAZING TEENS began very awkwardly. JOYFUL HEART was inconvenienced on jumping by BEAUTY SPIRIT which shifted in. From wide barriers, NICHOLSON RETURNS and SUNNY DELIGHT were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Passing the 800 Metres, NICHOLSON RETURNS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOYFUL HEART. Approaching the 700 Metres, STRATHMORETOO was taken out to a position three wide and without cover by STAR CONTACT which shifted out from behind EMBARKED. Passing the 500 Metres, CORDYCEPS TWO and AMAZING TEENS raced tight. At the entrance to the Straight, STRATHMORETOO raced tight between TOYCOON and AMAZING TEENS which improved to the outside of the heels of STAR CONTACT. Passing the 350 Metres, CITY LEGEND became unbalanced after being bumped by SUNNY DELIGHT which shifted out when held up for clear running. CITY LEGEND was then checked when crowded for room between BEAUTY SPIRIT and STRATHMORETOO (L Hewitson) which, when commencing to give ground, shifted out abruptly. NICHOLSON RETURNS, which was following CITY LEGEND, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse. In this incident, SUNNY DELIGHT was shifted in after being checked away from the heels of STRATHMORETOO. As the Stewards were of the opinion that L Hewitson had reacted to the abrupt shift of STRATHMORETOO in a timely manner, no further action was taken. Passing the 50 Metres, AMAZING TEENS was shifted out away from the heels of SUNNY DELIGHT as that horse shifted out. A veterinary inspection of EMBARKED, STRATHMORETOO and VUKAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. STAR CONTACT, TOYCOON and BEAUTY SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
