BIG KAHUNA was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when crowded for room between CENTURY SUPER STAR and CHINA HERO, both of which shifted ground. On jumping, KING WINS was taken back. Shortly after the start, SPICY FRUITY was steadied away from the heels of FLYING SPRINTER which shifted out. Approaching the turn at the 1000 Metres, KING WINS got its head on the side, hung in towards BIG KAHUNA and then when being straightened shifted out abruptly. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, HAPPY TOUCH was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of LEGEND which had its head on the side and shifted in. Following this, SPICY FRUITY was crowded for room between HAPPY TOUCH and RACING SPIRIT. As a result of this, SPICY FRUITY and RACING SPIRIT became unbalanced. After entering the Back Straight, KING WINS, which was continuing to hang in, shifted ground near the 900 Metres and caused some crowding to BIG KAHUNA. In the early part of the Straight, RACING SPIRIT had some difficulty obtaining clear running. For the major part of the race, FLYING SPRINTER hung out and travelled wide and without cover. SPICY FRUITY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SPICY FRUITY after the race did not show any significant findings. LEGEND and MARVELLOUS were sent for sampling.
