RAINBOW SEEKER began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start, GOOD TO GO lost ground when crowded for room between HAR HAR CHARMS and GRAND STORE which was carried in by LUCKY WINNER (C K Tong). C K Tong was told to exercise greater care. In the early stages, MACHO EXPRESSO hung in. At the 500 Metres, GRAND STORE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MACHO EXPRESSO which was bumped and carried wider by HAR HAR CHARMS. Just prior to straightening, SUN TROOPER became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by LUCKY WINNER which at this time endeavoured to shift out from behind THUNDER FLASH where there was insufficient room to do so. C K Tong was reprimanded for attempting to force a run where there was insufficient room. In the Straight, GRAND STORE hung in. Throughout the race, EASY travelled wide and without cover. MACHO EXPRESSO was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MACHO EXPRESSO after the race did not show any significant findings. GOOD TO GO, SUN TROOPER and VICTORY CONQUEROR were sent for sampling.
