After arriving at the Start, C W Wong, the rider of MISSION, expressed concern over the horse’s hindlimb action during the preliminary. MISSION was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said after consulting the rider the horse was suitable to race. CENTURY SUPER STAR began awkwardly and was then taken back. ALWAYS SOMETHING began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of TREASURE RAIDERS which as a result became unbalanced. On jumping, HAPPY WIN became unbalanced when buffeted between MARVELLOUS and MISSION which on jumping shifted in. Apprentice M L Yeung (GANBARIA) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MARVELLOUS, causing that horse to be carried in across the rightful running of TREASURE RAIDERS which as a result was checked. Apprentice Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 29 June 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 10 June 2009. H W Lai (HAPPY WIN) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that making the turn at the 1000 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of TREASURE RAIDERS, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. H W Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 2 July 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension shall commence on Thursday 25 June 2009 on which day H W Lai was due to resume race riding from a suspension incurred at the Sha Tin racemeeting last Sunday. In addition, H W Lai was fined $60,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 2 further racedays. At the 100 Metres, TREASURE RAIDERS was steadied away from the heels of CENTURY SUPER STAR. For the major part of the race, SUPER FIGHTER travelled wide and without cover. TREASURE RAIDERS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TREASURE RAIDERS after the race did not show any significant findings. MARVELLOUS, ALWAYS SOMETHING and SUPER PLUS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that PACHINKO had lost its right front plate.
