WASABISABI proved difficult to load into the barriers, resulting in the start being delayed. Whilst WASABISABI proved difficult to load, KINGSTON MARBLE became fractious, reared and momentarily sat down in the stalls. KINGSTON MARBLE was removed from the stalls and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said, in his opinion, it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, WASABISABI and KINGSTON MARBLE will both have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. When the gates opened, FULL BLESSINGS stood flat-footed and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, FULL BLESSINGS will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Shortly after the start, WASABISABI was checked when crowded for room between NEWSWIRE TOO and SINGLE MALT which got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly. This resulted in WASABISABI racing back in the field. PROSPERITY KID got its head up and hung out making the first turn. ARITZIA, which was following PROSPERITY KID, was checked in consequence. For some distance after this, PROSPERITY KID continued to hang out. SOLAR UP proved difficult to settle in the early stages. For some distance approaching and passing the 400 Metres, FULL BLESSINGS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HOW WONDERFUL. Y T Cheng (MY WHISKY) was warned against the practice of easing his mount down prior to the winning post. Throughout the race, SINGLE MALT and KINGSTON MARBLE travelled wide and without cover. MY WHISKY and KING CREOLE were sent for sampling.
