As the start was effected, UNION’S STAR, which was leaning on the outside of its barrier, was slow to begin. SKYVIEW BAR began awkwardly. CONFUCIUS CLASSIC had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and then over the concluding stages was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINE WIN. Near the 300 Metres, UNION’S STAR was steadied when disappointed for running between CONFUCIUS CLASSIC and FINN MACCOOL which shifted out. After this, UNION’S STAR had difficulty obtaining clear running and near the 200 Metres was shifted in to improve its position. Near the 200 Metres, FINN MACCOOL was momentarily steadied away from the heels of FOREVER ELATION which shifted out. In the Straight, YUMMY SPIRITS got its head on the side and hung in. Throughout the race, SILVER SUN travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA MOON after the race did not show any significant findings. YUMMY SPIRITS and SUPREME WIN were sent for sampling.
