CALIFORNIA OFFICER, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 1.3.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA OFFICER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PROSPEROUS and EMPIRE CITY were slow to begin. TREASURABLE and DOUBLE DRAGON, which began awkwardly, bumped shortly after the start. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, PROSPEROUS was steadied when crowded for room between DOUBLE DRAGON and RUGBY HEAVEN, both of which shifted ground. For a short distance near the 150 Metres, EMPIRE CITY had difficulty obtaining clear running behind NOT QUITE PERFECT. Throughout the race, MEGABUCKS and WOODSTOCK travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of MEGABUCKS after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MEGABUCKS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TOUT VA BIEN, PROSPEROUS and RUGBY HEAVEN were sent for sampling.
