After being loaded, FORTUNE GALLOP became fractious, reared and broke open the front gate of its stall. FORTUNE GALLOP then travelled a short distance riderless, but was quickly recaptured. FORTUNE GALLOP was returned to the Start and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE GALLOP will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. STAR OF CHIU TON began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was checked when crowded for room between EPEE DE HUA and COULDN’T CARE LESS, both of which shifted ground. In this incident, STAR OF CHIU TON bumped the hindquarters of COULDN’T CARE LESS which became badly unbalanced. ZERO GRAVITY stumbled on jumping. For some distance approaching the 1300 Metres, STAR OF CHIU TON was awkwardly placed close to the heels of COULDN’T CARE LESS. Then at the 1300 Metres, STAR OF CHIU TON shifted out when being checked away from the heels of COULDN’T CARE LESS which itself was taken out slightly by DAILY DOUBLE, resulting in STAR OF CHIU TON being left racing three wide and without cover. After this, STAR OF CHIU TON was allowed to stride forward, however, remained racing wide and without cover until passing the 800 Metres. For some distance passing the 1200 Metres, EPEE DE HUA got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of BAUHINIA. A veterinary inspection of BAUHINIA after the race revealed that the horse was lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BAUHINIA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DAILY DOUBLE and EPEE DE HUA were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that COULDN’T CARE LESS had lost its left front plate.
