Shortly after the start, IRIAN and SOVIET PEARL were crowded by GREAT ACHIEVEMENT which got its head on the side and shifted out. Near the 1300 Metres, DUMBARTON ROCK blundered and was then retired from the race. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DUMBARTON ROCK was lame in its right front fetlock. Before being allowed to race again, DUMBARTON ROCK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. For a short distance passing the 1300 Metres, SAPELLI raced in restricted room inside HOLD HANDS. Near the 900 Metres, BLUE SKY was left racing wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of BLUE SKY, AMBITIOUS GENERAL and REALLY HAPPY after the race did not show any significant findings. IRIAN and INTERCHINA STAR were sent for sampling.
