MING HOI TREASURE was withdrawn on 6.7.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, MING HOI TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Shortly after the start, RIDE WITH THE WIND was steadied when crowded for room between STRAIGHT FORWARD and HURRICANE DASH which shifted in. Also shortly after the start, HAPPY TUMBLER was crowded for room between HOLD HANDS and BEST FRIEND which was taken out by BILLION. HAPPY TUMBLER was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and then passing the 250 Metres was checked when attempting to improve into a position where there was insufficient room between REALLY HAPPY and INTERCHINA STAR. In the Straight, RIDE WITH THE WIND hung in. Throughout the race, HURRICANE DASH travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the improved performance of RIDE WITH THE WIND, Trainer J Size stated that after the horse had its initial race start in Hong Kong in February in a Group 2 race, RIDE WITH THE WIND was gelded which resulted in it not being presented to race again until 20 June 2010. He said on that occasion, as instanced in the Stewards` report, RIDE WITH THE WIND took charge of its rider and proved very difficult to settle. He said he trialed the horse on 30 June 2010 at Happy Valley and although there were only a small number of horses in the trial, it was his belief that RIDE WITH THE WIND had trialed extremely well. He said on the strength of this trial, he anticipated that RIDE WITH THE WIND would run well tonight provided the horse was able to settle better than it did at its most recent start. A veterinary inspection of REDRAGTOABULL after the race revealed that the horse was lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, REDRAGTOABULL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY TUMBLER, RIDE WITH THE WIND and STRAIGHT FORWARD were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HURRICANE DASH had lost its right hind plate. <8/7/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> REDRAGTOABULL, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time the horse was lame in its right front leg. REDRAGTOABULL was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Moore this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, REDRAGTOABULL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
