SUPERIOR WARRIOR and EAGLE STAR were slow to begin. From wide barriers, NOBLE VISION and KING ON EARTH were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, NOT QUITE PERFECT and K-JACK bumped on a number of occasions. Near the 1050 Metres, CLASSA SUPREME was checked when crowded for room between CLASSIC NAVIGATOR (W M Lai) and MULTIPROUD which, after being bumped on the hindquarters by CLASSA SUPREME, was turned out across the running of that horse. W M Lai was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners to his inside in similar circumstances. After entering the Back Straight, NOBLE VISION got its head on the side and lay in and then near the 600 Metres ran in across the heels of FORTUNE SPIRIT, resulting in EAGLE STAR becoming badly unbalanced when crowded for room. For some distance passing the 600 Metres, CLASSA SUPREME was awkwardly placed between MULTIPROUD and K-JACK. Passing the 150 Metres, BENEFACTOR got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure, resulting in CLASSIC NAVIGATOR being hampered when taken wider. In the Straight, NOBLE VISION got its head on the side and lay in. Throughout the race, K-JACK travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that EAGLE STAR had lost its right front plate. SUPERIOR WARRIOR, FLASHING GUY and KING ON EARTH were sent for sampling.
