GREEN JACKET was slow to begin and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of VICTORY IDE SAY which was taken out by EURO SWIFTLY which itself was checked when tightened for room outside KICK SERVE which shifted out. From the outside barrier, WELL NOTED was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 100 Metres, MY MEMORY, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside FULFIL A WISH. Also near the 100 Metres, GREEN JACKET, which was closing off the race strongly, was steadied when disappointed for running between VICTORY IDE SAY and SOARING RIVER which at this time shifted to the outside of the heels of the weakening MY MEMORY. Because of this, GREEN JACKET was not ridden out right to the end of the race as it normally would be. When questioned, Apprentice K C Leung (WELL NOTED) stated that passing the 900 Metres his saddle shifted to the left hand side. He said some distance later he was able to rectify the position of his saddle and passing the 700 Metres rode his mount along to make up lost ground. He said he continued to ride WELL NOTED along, however, in the early part of the Straight his saddle shifted back, resulting in him being disadvantaged in the manner in which he could ride WELL NOTED out in the Straight. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that EURO SWIFTLY had lost its left front plate. MR VIGOROUS, SEA PRINCE and FULFIL A WISH were sent for sampling.
