KEEP YOUR PROMISE was withdrawn on 18.12.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter THE PRINCE (B Doyle). Before being allowed to race again, KEEP YOUR PROMISE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Whilst in the saddling stalls, CLASSIC FIGURE had its right front plate refitted. CLASSIC FIGURE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. As the start was effected, SWEETIE MUSIC lifted its front feet off the ground and began awkwardly. KING OF GLASS was slow to begin and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of GUNNER MAC which shifted in. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of YOUNG TURBO, D Whyte stated that it was decided to add blinkers to the horse’s gear and to bring it back in distance to the 1000 Metres of today’s race as YOUNG TURBO had, in its previous runs, displayed a relatively short sprint. He said it was hoped that YOUNG TURBO would benefit by being brought back in distance. He said however that after being able to obtain a good position in the race, YOUNG TURBO, in his opinion, was not suited by the distance of today’s race. A veterinary inspection of YOUNG TURBO after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. The Veterinary Officer also reported that YOUNG TURBO had lost its right hind plate. YOUNG TURBO, FAIR NAVIGATOR and STALLION SUPREME were sent for sampling.
