KOWLOON PRIDE and KING GALILEO bumped at the start after both horses began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, KOWLOON PRIDE was steadied when crowded for room between KING GALILEO and CONQUEROR which shifted out. From wide barriers, AMAZING VENTURE and NOBLE TWINS were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1300 Metres, EXCELLENT ELITE shifted in despite the efforts of its rider, Z Purton and made solid contact with CONQUEROR, resulting in both horses becoming badly unbalanced. Passing the 1100 Metres, CONQUEROR got its head up and proved difficult to settle. Approaching the 1000 Metres, PACIFIC ALLIANCE shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNING STRATEGY, resulting in NOBLE TWINS being crowded for room inside KING GALILEO which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. AMAZING VENTURE, which was following, PACIFIC ALLIANCE, was hampered in consequence. For some distance after this, PACIFIC ALLIANCE continued to race close to the heels of WINNING STRATEGY. Approaching the 100 Metres, SONOFTHEWEST was momentarily steadied away from the heels of MULTILOVE which got its head on the side and shifted out. After this, MULTILOVE continued to hang out. Near the 50 Metres, NOBLE TWINS, which was endeavouring to obtain clear running between AMAZING VENTURE and FANTASTIC TIME, was checked when FANTASTIC TIME was taken out by INCREDIBLE EAGLE (D Beadman) which shifted out and away from MULTILOVE (M Chadwick) which at this time was continuing to shift out. In the circumstances, both D Beadman and M Chadwick were reprimanded and advised to ensure that they make every endeavour to keep their mounts on a straight line in similar circumstances. Over the concluding stages, MULTILOVE and INCREDIBLE EAGLE raced tight. A veterinary inspection of KOWLOON PRIDE, KING GALILEO and EXCELLENT ELITE after the race did not show any significant findings. INCREDIBLE EAGLE, AMAZING VENTURE and MULTILOVE were sent for sampling.
