GOOD GAINS began awkwardly and shortly after the start was crowded for room inside FLORAL PICASSO which shifted in. From a wide barrier, VIVA FIGHTER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, LUMINOUS was steadied away from the heels of AMITYSHIP (M Guyon) which shifted in when not properly clear. M Guyon will be reprimanded and advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance prior to shifting ground. After this, LUMINOUS travelled wide and without cover and was consequently allowed to stride forward. Passing the 1400 Metres, GOOD GAINS became very difficult to settle, got its head up on a number of occasions and shifted out across the heels of FLORAL PICASSO, resulting in NORDIC STAR and ROYAL PUMPKIN being taken wider. STAR OF FAME and VIVA FIGHTER, which were following GOOD GAINS, were hampered in consequence. After the 800 Metres, ROYAL PUMPKIN was left racing wide and without cover. On the Home Turn, FLORAL PICASSO was steadied away from the heels of LUMINOUS which commenced to give ground. A veterinary inspection of FLORAL PICASSO after the race did not show any significant findings. CHEER and AMITYSHIP were sent for sampling.
