When questioned, J Lloyd stated that passing the 700 Metres he was obliged to ride JAMESINA along to maintain its position on the back of MIGHTY HIGH. He said passing the 600 Metres the tempo of the race increased and at this time SAPELLI improved its position quickly around JAMESINA. He said he did give consideration to attempting to shift to the outside of MIGHTY HIGH at this time, however, he did not believe JAMESINA was travelling well enough to do so and had he had attempted to come to the outside of MIGHTY HIGH, it was likely that he would make contact with SAPELLI and this would be detrimental to the chances of JAMESINA. He said therefore he elected to follow those two horses into the Straight. SAPELLI and MIGHTY HIGH were sent for sampling.
