DIAMOND RAINBOW was withdrawn on 5.4.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (cut and swollen left fore fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter WELL NOTED (P Strydom). Before being allowed to race again, DIAMOND RAINBOW will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the start was effected, CAGA SPIRIT lifted both front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. SOU MA TAM and EN MASSE bumped at the start. EN MASSE then shifted out and hampered POTENTIAL. Near the 1150 Metres, POTENTIAL momentarily raced tight between EN MASSE and DANEWIN TIGER which shifted in. Making the first turn after the 1000 Metres, NEW KING PRAWN proved very difficult to settle, got its head up and ran out. Also making the first turn after the 1000 Metres, SPEARHEAD got its head on the side and shifted out. After the 700 Metres, FLORA DANICA proved very difficult to settle and shifted out when being checked away from the heels of SOU MA TAM, resulting in BEAUTIFUL DREAMER being hampered. FLORA DANICA continued to prove very difficult to settle and continued to get its head up for some distance after this. Approaching and passing the 600 Metres, CAGA SPIRIT proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. CAGA SPIRIT had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200 Metres. For the majority of the race, TYCOON TAYLOR travelled wide and without cover. POTENTIAL, FLORA DANICA and DANEWIN TIGER were sent for sampling.
