HONG KONG FAT began awkwardly. FAT DRAGON was slow to begin and consequently raced back in the field. From the outside barrier, GOLDEN TREASURE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 700 Metres, GOLDEN TREASURE was checked away from the heels of HONG KONG FAT which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUISSE D’OR. Passing the 250 Metres, FISHKING GLORY got its head on the side and lay in. For this reason, Apprentice C Y Ho transferred his whip from his left hand into his right hand. Passing the 200 Metres, BAITIWU was shifted out around the heels of SOLAR BOY which was giving ground. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SUISSE D’OR and BAITIWU had each lost its left front plate. A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN TREASURE and SOLAR BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. SUISSE D’OR, GILDED FLIGHT and TOY STORY were sent for sampling.
