When parading behind the barriers, it was noted that REDOUTE STAR was displaying a nasal discharge. REDOUTE STAR was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After the race, H W Lai reported that REDOUTE STAR did not appear to be comfortable in its action and as he felt that something may have gone amiss with the horse, he eased it down in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of REDOUTE STAR after the race noted the horse had blood at its mouth and that an endoscopic examination was not able to be conducted on the horse. The performance of REDOUTE STAR, a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, REDOUTE STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PRECISION MAGIC was difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, PRECISION MAGIC will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. CHAMPION MOUNT began awkwardly and lost ground. SUPER HORSE was slow to begin and then throughout the race travelled wide and at times without cover. Then in the Straight, SUPER HORSE gave ground. After the 1500 Metres, REDOUTE’S FORTUNE proved very difficult to settle and shifted out when being checked away from the heels of MOUNT VICTORY. Making the turn near the 700 Metres, STORM’S DESTINY was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of MOUNT VICTORY which got its head on the side and lay in. Near the 500 Metres, CLASSIC BOY was crowded for room when obtaining a tight run between SUPER HORSE and CHAMPION MOUNT which shifted out slightly after being brushed by BEST NOODLE. Near the 400 Metres, GOLDEN TREASURE was momentarily held up behind STORM’S DESTINY. A veterinary inspection of CLASSIC BOY after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CLASSIC BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SUPER HORSE after the race did not show any significant findings. SUISSE D’OR and GOLDEN TREASURE were sent for sampling.
