Shortly after the start, COMMON GOAL got its head up when being taken across behind runners. Passing the 1600 Metres, LUCKY CHEVALIER was steadied away from the heels of TRAVEL GUIDE which shifted in. Near the 700 Metres, REDOUTE’S FORTUNE commenced to travel keenly and was steadied away from the heels of SOMETHING SPECIAL for some distance. Rounding the Home Turn, COMMON GOAL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CLASSIC AWARDS when held up for clear running behind that horse and inside REDOUTE’S FORTUNE. After the 200 Metres, O’REILLY MAGIC shifted out and bumped POTENTIAL on a number of occasions. Passing the 50 Metres, COMMON GOAL was momentarily crowded for room between JOLLY WONGCHOY and SOMETHING SPECIAL which shifted in. O’REILLY MAGIC travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. A veterinary inspection of POTENTIAL and LUCKY CHEVALIER after the race did not show any significant findings. TRAVEL GUIDE and JOYFUL WINNER II were sent for sampling.
