PASSIONATE was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, PASSIONATE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the 800 Metres until rounding the Home Turn, HEXAGON got its head on the side and hung out. Having in mind HEXAGON's previous history in respect of hanging out in races, the Stewards ruled that prior to being permitted to race again, HEXAGON will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial on three consecutive occasions. Mr A Lee, the trainer of HEXAGON, was advised that should HEXAGON perform in a similar manner in any of these trials or in any future races, the Stewards will give consideration to recommending to the Board of Stewards that the horse be compulsorily retired. Near the 700 Metres, MASTER DRAGON was checked away from the heels of SPEEDY and in doing so shifted out and bumped KING OF FISH II. Rounding the Home Turn, FAIRY BOY raced in restricted room between POLYMER POWER and DR UNION which shifted out. At the entrance to the Straight, DUKE'S VICTORY was shifted out across the heels of runners to obtain clear running. Near the 200 Metres, M'S MAGIC was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SPEEDY which shifted out. Near the 50 Metres, KING OF FISH II was steadied out away from the heels of DRAGON CHOICE which shifted out under pressure. Weighed-in for this race was delayed after the connections of second placed, ALP'S GLORY, requested to view the official photo print. A veterinary inspection of POLYMER POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. DRAGON CHOICE and ALP'S GLORY were sent for sampling.
