MASTER RIO, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 13.2.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore left eye). Before being allowed to race again, MASTER RIO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MR VIGOROUS and SMART KIDS bumped shortly after the start. From wide barriers, SUNNY FAY and WINNING BOY were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1000 Metres, MASTER KEY shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of HAPPY DRUMMING which for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover. In the middle stages, MAKE IT proved difficult to settle and for some distance after the 900 Metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY HA HA. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, LEGENDARY DRAGON was bumped and became unbalanced when crowded for room inside BOULD MOVER which got its head on the side and lay in despite the efforts of its rider. MONEYMAKER, which was following LEGENDARY DRAGON, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, SUNNY FAY shifted in and brushed the running rail after being awkwardly placed inside the heels of HAPPY HA HA. Near the 300 Metres, SMART KIDS was steadied when disappointed for running between BOULD MOVER and HAPPY DRUMMING, both of which shifted ground. SMART KIDS then had difficulty obtaining clear running and for some distance after the 200 Metres raced in restricted room between BOULD MOVER and HAPPY DRUMMING. Over the concluding stages, SMART KIDS was again steadied when crowded for room between BOULD MOVER which was taken out by HAPPY HA HA and HAPPY DRUMMING which got its head on the side and shifted in when awkwardly placed inside MASTER KEY. Passing the 300 Metres, WINNING BOY was steadied away from the heels of MASTER KEY which itself shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY DRUMMING. Approaching the 50 Metres, MAKE IT was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY HA HA (M L Yeung) which shifted out to obtain clear running. M L Yeung was reprimanded and advised to be sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Over the concluding stages, MONEYMAKER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of LEGENDARY DRAGON. A veterinary inspection of SMART KIDS after the race did not show any significant findings. LEGENDARY DRAGON and MONEYMAKER were sent for sampling.
