After being loaded, KINGSTON SPARTACUS became fractious, got its head down and attempted to break through under the front gates. A short time later, KINGSTON SPARTACUS again became fractious, got its head down and broke through under the front gates. KINGSTON SPARTACUS then galloped a short distance before being recaptured. Acting on veterinary advice that KINGSTON SPARTACUS was not suitable to race due to the nature of the barrier incident, that horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, KINGSTON SPARTACUS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of SWEET CORNER, which became fractious after being loaded, found that horse to be suitable to race. As the start was effected, BOSAMBO lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. After this, BOSAMBO was ridden along to obtain a forward position. BOSAMBO then travelled wide and without cover until near the 1000 Metres. From a wide barrier, THE FAST LANE was taken across behind runners shortly after start. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, THE ONLY KID was steadied away from the heels of GOLD TARTINI which shifted in. Rounding the Home Turn, SWEET CORNER and BULLISH POWER raced tight as SWEET CORNER attempted to shift to the outside of HOLLYWOOD KISS. Near the 450 Metres, GOLD TARTINI was steadied away from the heels of YOUNG HERO which was taken out by JADE PINS (K C Leung) which shifted out to obtain clear running. K C Leung was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. After the 200 Metres, ALL BOUNTIFUL was taken in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of THE FAST LANE which shifted in under pressure. Also after the 200 Metres, GOLD TARTINI was awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE ONLY KID which was giving ground. A veterinary inspection of ALL BOUNTIFUL after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. JADE PINS and FULL VALUE were sent for sampling.
