From wide barriers, GREEN MANNER and HELENE FUN STAR were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1100 Metres, MIGHTY K shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of KING DERBY which was being steadied by its rider. ALL YOU WISH, which was following, was checked away from the heels of MIGHTY K in consequence and OWNERS’ PRIDE, which was following ALL YOU WISH, became badly unbalanced and lost ground when checked away from the heels of that horse. When ALL YOU WISH was hampered, it shifted out, resulting in KING’S FOLKS becoming badly unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of that horse. For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, RACING REWARD was checked away from the heels of SAMADHI which, when proving difficult to settle, shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of KING DERBY. After the 900 Metres, MIGHTY K was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Rounding the Home Turn, KING’S FOLKS was steadied when attempting to obtain a run between OUR MARCUS and PLENTIFUL where there was insufficient room. GREEN MANNER, which was following, was hampered in consequence. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DIVINE DIYA, T Clark, who was having his first ride on the horse in today’s race, stated that it only travelled reasonably in the early and middle stages. He said DIVINE DIYA, which was up in class today, responded only fairly in the early part of the Straight and, in his opinion, was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race, particularly given that GREEN MANNER was able to come from behind DIVINE DIYA to finish 3rd in the race. He added that DIVINE DIYA’s performance could be attributed to the fact that it was up in class after having nearly a month between runs. A veterinary inspection of DIVINE DIYA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ADORATION had lost its right hind plate. A veterinary inspection of MIGHTY K immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ALL YOU WISH and ADORATION were sent for sampling.
