VITAL FLYER began awkwardly. At the 400 Metres, CHEETAH BOY, which was racing with its head on the side, was momentarily crowded for room between FULFIL A WISH and BEST ELEVEN which shifted out. In this incident, CHEETAH BOY bumped the hindquarters of FULFIL A WISH which became unbalanced. Near the 150 Metres, the whip of T Angland (GO BABY GO) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of A Suborics (AMBER SKY). When questioned, Z Purton (STRAIGHT GOLD) stated that near the 700 Metres his mount raced tight outside VITAL FLYER. He said STRAIGHT GOLD then travelled only fairly and after showing no real turn of foot, finished off the race satisfactorily. A veterinary inspection of STRAIGHT GOLD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of BEST ELEVEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. STRAIGHT GOLD, GO BABY BO and AMBER SKY were sent for sampling.
