After being loaded, SICHUAN EXEC became fractious and reared. Before being allowed to race again, SICHUAN EXEC will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. HIT A HOME RUN and PERI PERI SAFFRON were slow to begin. FORTUNE WINNER began awkwardly and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. From the outside barrier, QUANTUM POWER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, DOUBLE DRAGON failed to muster speed. After the 500 Metres, PERI PERI SAFFRON was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RACING REWARD which was racing close to the heels of SPEEDYGONZALEZ. RACING REWARD was badly held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres. At the 350 Metres, SPEEDYGONZALEZ was disappointed for running between JOY TOGETHER (Apprentice K C Ng) which shifted out slightly and DASHING FORTUNE which shifted in. For a short distance after this, SPEEDYGONZALEZ was then held up for clear running behind JOY TOGETHER and when attempting to obtain a run outside that horse approaching the 300 Metres was hampered and taken out onto DASHING FORTUNE which in turn was taken out onto ROCKET PROUD which shifted out after being bumped and becoming unbalanced, resulting in WINNING ADVANTAGE being taken out onto SICHUAN EXEC which was inconvenienced. As a result of this incident, SPEEDYGONZALEZ was steadied and then shifted to the inside of JOY TOGETHER when disappointed for running to the outside of that horse. Apprentice Ng was reprimanded and advised that whilst SPEEDYGONZALEZ had not properly established clear running to the outside of JOY TOGETHER at the relevant time, nonetheless he has an obligation to ensure he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. After this, JOY TOGETHER continued to lay out under pressure until near the 200 Metres. Passing the 200 Metres, SICHUAN EXEC was awkwardly placed inside the heels of DOUBLE DRAGON which shifted in slightly. Over the concluding stages, SICHUAN EXEC was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DOUBLE DRAGON and for this reason was not able to be fully tested. Throughout the race, ROCKET PROUD travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that there was blood at the left nostril of RACING REWARD, however, an endoscopic examination confirmed that the trachea was clean and therefore the horse was not deemed to have bled. HIT A HOME RUN, PERI PERI SAFFRON and KEEN TACTICS were sent for sampling.
