ENJOY THE GAME began awkwardly and shifted in, resulting in BURGUNDY MAC being crowded for room outside HUMONGUS. BRILLIANT LIGHT and PUBLIC FIGURE bumped heavily at the start. A short distance after the start, BURGUNDY MAC was checked when crowded for room by ENJOY THE GAME which, after initially shifted in, was then taken in by PUBLIC FIGURE which shifted ground after being bumped by BRILLIANT LIGHT. NAMJONG TURBO had to be aggressively ridden in the early stages to take up a forward position. Passing the 1700 Metres, HUMONGUS was checked after being crowded for room between GOLD TARTINI and ENJOY THE GAME (N Callan) which, after initially shifting in and racing tight outside HUMONGUS, then got its head up and shifted in further when unbalanced after making contact with HUMONGUS. N Callan was advised that whilst the racing manners of ENJOY THE GAME had contributed to this incident, nonetheless he had initially shifted in, causing HUMONGUS to be crowded. He was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room to runners on his inside at all times. Approaching the 1100 Metres, YUAN’S FORTUNE was steadied away from the heels of NAMJONG TURBO which was racing keenly and was being checked away from the heels of BRILLIANT LIGHT. GOLD TARTINI, which was following and also proving difficult to settle, shifted out abruptly away from the heels of YUAN’S FORTUNE, resulting in ENJOY THE GAME being hampered. HUMONGUS, which was also proving difficult to settle, was checked a short distance later after improving inside the heels of GOLD TARTINI which was then shifted back in behind YUAN’S FORTUNE by ENJOY THE GAME. Near the 250 Metres, NAMJONG TURBO lost its left hind plate. Also near the 250 Metres, ENJOY THE GAME was shifted out away from the heels of YUAN’S FORTUNE. At the 175 Metres, GOLD TARTINI was struck across the nose by the whip of K Teetan (YUAN’S FORTUNE) Over the final 150 Metres, GOLD TARTINI had difficulty obtaining clear running and passing the 75 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of BRILLIANT LIGHT. Then over the final 50 Metres, GOLD TARTINI was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BRILLIANT LIGHT and because of this was not able to be properly tested. Throughout the race, POWER BLITZ travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination of POWER BLITZ showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. B Prebble (JUN HAO) was fined $3,000 for improper use of the whip in that he raised weal marks over the horse’s right hindquarters. A veterinary inspection of GOLD TARTINI and HUMONGUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GOLD TARTINI, MOBILE KING and NAMJONG TURBO were sent for sampling. <30/6/2014 Additional Veterinary Report>After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination of POWER BLITZ showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. POWER BLITZ was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer R Gibson yesterday morning. He said at this time he found the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, POWER BLITZ will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
