M Chadwick (PENIAPHOBIA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after permitting his mount to shift out near the 850 Metres and racing tight against NOT LISTENIN’TOME for some distance, he then allowed PENIAPHOBIA to shift out further at the 700 Metres which resulted in NOT LISTENIN’TOME being severely checked. Whilst Jockey Chadwick was entitled to recognition for a good riding record, nonetheless given the high degree of carelessness in this incident and the severity of the interference, he was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 19 October 2016 and to expire on Thursday, 3 November 2016 on which day he may resume race riding (5 Hong Kong racedays). Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of N Callan (NOT LISTENIN’TOME) 5th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels all the way to the end of the race where circumstances permit. A veterinary inspection of NOT LISTENIN’TOME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of DOMINEER immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. Before being allowed to race again, DOMINEER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NOT LISTENIN’TOME, AMAZING KIDS and AMBER SKY were sent for sampling.
