PERPETUAL JOYANCE and STARTLING POWER bumped at the start. LET’S TAKE IT EASY began awkwardly and then was bumped on jumping by OUR HERO which shifted in. Shortly after the start, VICTORY MACHINE, which was being steadied to obtain cover, was crowded for room between JUMBO HAPPINESS and OUR HERO, both of which shifted ground. Also shortly after the start, BACK IN BLACK shifted out and bumped SPEEDY ACHIEVER. SPEEDY ACHIEVER was then awkwardly placed outside BACK IN BLACK for a short distance after this. From wide barriers, JUMBO HAPPINESS, AMAZING and CITY WINNER were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, BACK IN BLACK and SPEEDY ACHIEVER bumped, resulting in SPEEDY ACHIEVER being taken out onto LET’S TAKE IT EASY which was bumped and taken wider. LET’S TAKE IT EASY was then steadied to obtain cover behind SPEEDY ACHIEVER which for the remainder of the race travelled wide and without cover. MALMSTEEN got its head up and made the turn near the 900 Metres awkwardly. Approaching the 250 Metres, MALMSTEEN raced tight inside PERPETUAL JOYANCE. Approaching the 200 Metres, VICTORY MACHINE was shifted out away from the heels of STARTLING POWER which shifted in when giving ground. Over the final 100 Metres, YOU READ MY MIND drifted out under pressure. Close to the finishing line, MALMSTEEN shifted in and was straightened to prevent the horse from continuing to shift in and causing tightening to VICTORY MACHINE. A veterinary inspection of SPEEDY ACHIEVER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SPEEDY ACHIEVER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.. JUMBO HAPPINESS, PERPETUAL JOYANCE and YOU READ MY MIND were sent for sampling.
