When parading behind the Start, the tongue tie applied to GREEN CARD was replaced. MIGHTY MAVERICK and GREEN CARD (T Berry) bumped at the start when MIGHTY MAVERICK was taken out by DIAMOND KING. T Berry explained that it had been intended for GREEN CARD to be ridden in a midfield position. He said after being bumped by MIGHTY MAVERICK at the start, this resulted in GREEN CARD being further back in the field in the initial stages of the race. He said he did give consideration to riding GREEN CARD forward in an endeavour to obtain a midfield position, however, he felt at the time that this may have resulted in GREEN CARD racing wide and therefore he elected to obtain cover behind MIGHTY MAVERICK in the early stages which resulted in GREEN CARD racing further back in the field than had been intended. WONDERFUL FIGHTER began awkwardly and shortly after the start bumped with LANG TAI SING. From a wide barrier, LANG TAI SING was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, EASY TOUCH failed to muster speed. Near the 1050 Metres, SO FAST became badly unbalanced of its own accord. Approaching the 1000 Metres, MIGHTY MAVERICK and CHUNG WAH SPIRIT raced tight inside WONDERFUL FIGHTER (U Rispoli) which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening. U Rispoli was reprimanded. For some distance approaching the 900 Metres, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT proved difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of TRAVEL EMPEROR. After this, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT continued to race keenly and for some distance approaching and passing the 800 Metres again got its head up when being checked away from the heels of TRAVEL EMPEROR. After the 900 Metres, WONDERFUL FIGHTER was left racing wide and without cover. TRAVEL DATUK made the Home Turn awkwardly. Near the 350 Metres, MEGA TREASURE became unbalanced after being brushed by DIAMOND KING which improved into tight running between MEGA TREASURE and SO FAST which lay out. Passing the 100 Metres, TRAVEL EMPEROR was directed out away from the heels of TRAVEL DATUK which shifted out marginally. A veterinary inspection of SO FAST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TRAVEL EMPEROR, FIFTY FIFTY and DIAMOND KING were sent for sampling.
