PEARL CHAMPION was withdrawn on 3.2.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter KA YING BRILLIANCE (K C Leung). Before being allowed to race again, PEARL CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MANAGEMENT STAR was slow to begin and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners. KA YING BRILLIANCE began only fairly. After the 900 Metres, SPEEDY KING travelled keenly. Near the 850 Metres, BEAUT BEAUT got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FRESH POWER which was being steadied to allow MULTIMAX to cross. Approaching the 700 Metres, SPEEDY KING raced tight between HAVE FUN TOGETHER and SUPER EURO STAR, both of which shifted ground. Rounding the Home Turn, KA YING BRILLIANCE shifted out abruptly after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of MANAGEMENT STAR which shifted out to improve. FRESH POWER was unable to obtain clear running from on straightening until near the 50 Metres and consequently was not able to be tested. Passing the 300 Metres, ARIZONA BLIZZARD was shifted to the outside of SPEEDY KING to obtain clear running after racing tight between that horse and BEAUT BEAUT which, after being unable to obtain clear running, was shifted out to improve. SUPER EURO STAR was unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 200 Metres. Near the 75 Metres, REGENCY DARLING raced tight inside HAVE FUN TOGETHER which got its head on the side and lay in under pressure. Close to the finishing line, ARIZONA BLIZZARD shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of KA YING BRILLIANCE. Throughout the race, HAVE FUN TOGETHER travelled wide and without cover. After the race, J Moreira reported that ARIZONA BLIZZARD was making an abnormal breathing noise throughout the race. The Veterinary Officer subsequently reported that the horse was a "roarer”. HAVE FUN TOGETHER, BEAUT BEAUT and KA YING BRILLIANCE were sent for sampling.
