As the start was being effected, TRIUMPHANT LIGHT (G van Niekerk) lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently missed the start. In this incident, G van Niekerk instinctively reached out with his left hand to hold the stall partition. LITTLE FANTASY began awkwardly and then, despite being hard ridden in the early stages, failed to muster speed. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, TRIUMPHAL WIN was steadied away from the heels of THE LEGEND (K Teetan) which shifted in when not properly clear. K Teetan was reminded of his obligation to provide sufficient clearance. Approaching the 1300 Metres, COME ON WONGCHOY was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 700 Metres, MONEY WINNER shifted out to improve its position, however, raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. KWAICHUNG BROTHERS was held up for clear running from near the 250 Metres until after passing the 100 Metres. A veterinary inspection of JOLLY AMBER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. LE PEGASE and MANAGEMENT STAR were sent for sampling.
