BIG TIME BABY began only fairly. NOT LISTENIN’TOME began only fairly and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of GUNNISON which shifted out after being bumped by KEEP MOVING. After this, NOT LISTENIN’TOME failed to muster speed despite being ridden along. From wide barriers, CALCULATION and FIGHT HERO were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After travelling a short distance, BIG TIME BABY shifted out after brushing JOLLY GENE and in doing so bumped FABULOUS ONE. FABULOUS ONE got its head on the side and lay out making the turn near the 700 Metres and consequently lost ground when checked away from the heels of GUNNISON which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. The performance of JOLLY GENE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, JOLLY GENE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of NOT LISTENIN’TOME immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, NOT LISTENIN’TOME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GUNNISON and PERPETUAL TREASURE were sent for sampling.
