C Schofield (SINGAPORE SLING) was fined $2,000 for presenting himself to initially weigh out with two surcingles. After weighing out with two surcingles, this required the saddle being returned and C Schofield having to re-weigh. CITRON SPIRIT was slow to begin. SOUTHERN LEGEND and SINGAPORE SLING bumped at the start. Passing the 1600 Metres, HO HO KHAN lay in, resulting in CITRON SPIRIT being momentarily crowded for room. After the 1600 Metres, INSAYSHABLE commenced to travel keenly and momentarily raced tight inside the heels of SACRED CAPITAL. Near the 1550 Metres, FURORE was shifted out away from the heels of SACRED CAPITAL which was racing tight outside EAGLE WAY. After the 1400 Metres, FURORE, which had been steadied in the early stages to obtain cover, was left racing very wide and without cover and then for some distance after the 1200 Metres continued to be steadied in an attempt to obtain cover behind SACRED CAPITAL. However, FURORE, which was travelling keenly, was unable to be steadied and consequently when continuing to race very wide was allowed to improve its position after the 1100 Metres, but continued to race wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. Near the 950 Metres, INSAYSHABLE was shifted out away from the heels of SACRED CAPITAL and after this travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, C Schofield stated that due to the wide barrier he was instructed to be positive on SINGAPORE SLING in the early stages and obtain a position behind the speed with cover if possible. He said after the 1600 Metres SINGAPORE SLING was left racing very wide and he improved his position approaching the 1400 Metres in an endeavour to obtain a trailing position. He said however SINGAPORE SLING was left racing wide without cover and for this reason he was left with no alternative other than to allow the horse to clear EAGLE WAY and race outside the lead near the 1200 Metres. When questioned, J Moreira stated that, in his opinion, DARK DREAM was disappointing in today’s race. He said DARK DREAM came under pressure prior to the 600 Metres and he was obliged to ride his mount along after this in an attempt to improve his position. He said however DARK DREAM did not respond to his riding as he expected and finished off the race only one-paced. A veterinary inspection of DARK DREAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of FURORE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. EXULTANT, SOUTHERN LEGEND and TIME WARP were sent for sampling.
