On arrival at the Start, ALCARI, which kicked a rail on entering the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. WIN WIN shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of TANGMERE which became unbalanced. WIN WIN was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From the outside barriers, CALIFORNIA DADDY, SUPER ELEGANCE and PACKING WARRIOR were all steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover shortly after the start. After the 1300 Metres, GAYSON got its head up when momentarily racing tight inside LIGHT MY DAY. CALIFORNIA DADDY, which was following GAYSON, commenced to prove very difficult to settle and shifted out when being checked away from the heels of GAYSON near the 1250 Metres. Passing the 400 Metres, WIN WIN was bumped by SMART PATCH (C Y Ho) which shifted in when disappointed for running between LIGHT MY DAY and GAYSON which shifted in marginally. WIN WIN was then held up for clear running and passing the 350 Metres was shifted in away from the heels of EZRA. SMART PATCH was also badly held up for clear running and near the 250 Metres, after being very awkwardly placed behind LIGHT MY DAY which commenced to give ground, struck the heels of that horse as LIGHT MY DAY shifted out away from SEERITE DRAGON after being brushed by that horse. This resulted in SMART PATCH and LIGHT MY DAY becoming badly unbalanced. C Y Ho stated that as a result of striking the heels of LIGHT MY DAY, SMART PATCH was then out of contention, therefore he did not test it over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of SMART PATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Near the 300 Metres, PACKING WARRIOR had some difficulty obtaining clear running and was awkwardly placed between SMART PATCH and CALIFORNIA DADDY. PACKING WARRIOR then continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 200 Metres. For the majority of the race, LIGHT MY DAY travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of LIGHT MY DAY immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg and an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, LIGHT MY DAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SEERITE DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SMART PATCH, RELIABLE TEAM and SUPER ELEGANCE were sent for sampling.
