COOL ACE and THE ABRAXAS bumped at the start. Shortly after the start, STRATHCLYDE shifted in and inconvenienced TELECOM MISSILE. From a wide barrier, BRAVERY AND POWER was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Passing the 800 Metres, FIRE AND GOLD was eased away from the heels of SPEEDY DRAGON which shifted in. MONEYMORE lay out rounding the Home Turn. At the 400 Metres, FOR FUN’S SAKE was steadied when disappointed for running between TELECOM MISSILE and MONEYMORE. FOR FUN’S SAKE then had some difficulty obtaining clear running until approaching the 200 Metres. Passing the 400 Metres, WINNING WARRIOR momentarily raced in restricted room between TELECOM MISSILE which shifted in and FOX CHEUNGER which commenced to shift to the outside of THE ABRAXAS. Near the 250 Metres, TELECOM MISSILE raced tight outside FOX CHEUNGER which shifted out marginally. Passing the 200 Metres, THE ABRAXAS was awkwardly placed outside the heels of JIMSON THE DRAGON. Throughout the race, WINNING WARRIOR travelled wide and without cover. After the race, K Teetan (THE ABRAXAS) stated that carrying top weight today, he had to make a lot of use of his horse in the early stages to take up a forward position as instructed. He said THE ABRAXAS travelled well when on the bridle, however, after being placed under pressure on entering the Straight did not quicken and then over the latter stages of the race did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of THE ABRAXAS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
