FLY ON EARTH began only fairly. BEAUTY CHARGE began awkwardly and then was crowded for room on jumping between BRILLIANT WAY and ARMOUR EAGLE which initially shifted out and then shifted further after becoming unbalanced as a result of being bumped on the hindquarters by BEAUTY CHARGE. MIDORI BEAUTY began awkwardly and lost ground. Then when being shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages, MIDORI BEAUTY travelled keenly after the 1000 Metres and then was left racing wide and without cover passing the 800 Metres. REGENCY BO BO and SUPER KING were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 1000 Metres, BEAUTY CHARGE commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of BRILLIANT WAY. After this, BEAUTY CHARGE continued to travel keenly and after the 800 Metres was again steadied away from the heels of BRILLIANT WAY. Then passing the 700 Metres, BEAUTY CHARGE was checked away from the heels of BRILLIANT WAY which was awkwardly placed behind KING LAND. At the entrance to the Straight, BEAUTY CHARGE raced close to the heels of MIDORI BEAUTY when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running. Near the 25 Metres, KILINDINI shifted out away from the heels of JUMBO FORTUNE which shifted to the outside of EIGHT TRIGRAMS. Throughout the race, KING LAND and SPIRITED EXPRESS travelled wide and without cover. After the race, A Badel stated that it was intended for BRILLIANT WAY to again be ridden in a forward position today. He said BRILLIANT WAY began only fairly and then became unbalanced after bumping BEAUTY CHARGE shortly after the start. He said this resulted in BRILLIANT WAY racing further back in the field today than had been intended. He said BRILLIANT WAY did not appear to be comfortable when racing amongst runners and travelled keenly in the middle stages when the pace of the race was not strong. He added that he shifted BRILLIANT WAY to the outside of runners in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse did not finish the race off as strongly as it has in recent starts. A veterinary inspection of BRILLIANT WAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SPIRITED EXPRESS, ARMOUR EAGLE and MIDORI BEAUTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BRILLIANT WAY, EIGHT TRIGRAMS and JUMBO FORTUNE were sent for sampling.
