Trainer A T Millard was fined the sum of $10,000 for breaching Trainers’ Handbook Regulation 40 in that he entered SUPER DOBBIN for a barrier trial at Sha Tin on Tuesday, 8 November 2022 when that horse was the first Standby Declared Starter for this race. GLUCK RACER began very awkwardly and shifted in towards the heels of COPARTNER AMBITION, resulting in GLUCK RACER becoming unbalanced and losing ground. After this, when being shifted across behind runners, GLUCK RACER got its head up when awkwardly placed outside the heels of SKY FOREVER. SOLAR WINDS lost ground on jumping when crowded for room between SMOKEY BEAR and FIVE ELEMENTS which shifted out. From the outside barriers, HERE COMES TED and YEABOI were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After travelling a short distance, GLOBAL HARMONY shifted out and inconvenienced SKY FOREVER. Making the turn near the 550 Metres, FIVE ELEMENTS raced tight inside GLOBAL HARMONY which got its head on the side and lay in away from COPARTNER AMBITION. SOLAR WINDS, which was following FIVE ELEMENTS, shifted out in consequence and in doing so bumped the hindquarters of HERE COMES TED which became unbalanced. At the 300 Metres, GLOBAL HARMONY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of STAR BRITE after attempting to shift to the outside of that horse and inside COPARTNER AMBITION. When COPARTNER AMBITION maintained its position, GLOBAL HARMONY then got its head on the side and lay in away from the heels of STAR BRITE. Throughout the race, COPARTNER AMBITION travelled wide and without cover. After the race, M Chadwick stated that FIVE ELEMENTS travelled well in the early stages, however, became unbalanced of its own accord after the 800 Metres. He said after this FIVE ELEMENTS came off the bridle and then making the turn near the 550 Metres was crowded for room after which FIVE ELEMENTS immediately came under heavy pressure to maintain its position. He added that despite being ridden along rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, FIVE ELEMENTS did not respond and then did not finish the race off over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of FIVE ELEMENTS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of FIVE ELEMENTS, which finished towards the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FIVE ELEMENTS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GLUCK RACER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SOLAR WINDS, STAR BRITE and XPONENTIAL were sent for sampling.
