Apprentice Y L Chung was fined the sum of $2,000 for presenting himself to weigh out on YO BEAUTY in the incorrect colours. YO BEAUTY lost its left hind plate on jumping. SAVVY CHIC and STAR BRITE bumped at the start. YO BEAUTY and HOWDEEPISYOURLOVE bumped on jumping. A short distance after the start, YO BEAUTY shifted out and inconvenienced HOWDEEPISYOURLOVE. DIVINE SHINING shifted in at the start and hampered SPANGLE FORTUNE. SPANGLE FORTUNE was then inconvenienced a short distance after the start by HUMBLE STAR which shifted out. TALENTS SUPREMO was slow to begin and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Also from wide barriers, LUCKY EIGHT and ARMOUR EAGLE were steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners. Making the turn approaching the 1000 Metres, MIDORI BEAUTY raced tight inside STAR BRITE. STAR BRITE was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of YO BEAUTY after the 1000 Metres. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, MIDORI BEAUTY lay in and bumped the running rail when momentarily racing tight inside STAR BRITE. MIDORI BEAUTY then got its head on the side and lay out towards the heels of STAR BRITE near the 550 Metres. HUMBLE STAR, which was following MIDORI BEAUTY, was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of MIDORI BEAUTY passing the 400 Metres. Passing the 500 Metres, DIVINE SHINING commenced to hang out and continued to hang out badly rounding the Home Turn, resulting in DIVINE SHINING losing a considerable amount of ground. The racing manners of DIVINE SHINING was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DIVING SHINING will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial around a bend. A veterinary inspection DIVINE SHINING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, L Hewitson reported that MIDORI BEAUTY appeared reluctant to race amongst runners tonight and after coming under heavy pressure after the 500 Metres did not finish the race off in the Straight. Also after the race, S De Sousa stated that, in his opinion, SAVVY CHIC’s failure to finish the race off strongly over the concluding stages was attributable to the horse not relaxing with XPONENTIAL racing to its outside in the early and middle stages, but also to the horse not coping with the step-up in grade to Class 3 tonight. He said at this stage of horse’s career in this grade, SAVVY CHIC would be better suited by being able to relax better than it did tonight. ARMOUR EAGLE and HOWDEEPISYOURLOVE were sent for sampling.
