FORTUNE MASTER and SPLENDID STAR bumped on jumping.
BLUSTITCH was crowded for room at the start between CONCERTO and DAZZLING FELLOW, both of which shifted ground.
SMILING FACE was slow to begin.
From a wide barrier, GOLDEN FOUR was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After passing the winning post on the first occasion, FORTUNE MASTER was checked away from the heels of TSUEN WAN GLORY as that horse was steadied to allow SHENRON (C L Chau) to cross. After this, TSUEN WAN GLORY commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SHENRON approaching the 1300 Metres as that horse was steadied in the lead. When racing very close to the heels of SHENRON, TSUEN WAN GLORY shifted out and bumped DAZZLING FELLOW whilst FORTUNE MASTER continued to race close to the heels of TSUEN WAN GLORY. C L Chau was advised to ensure that he does not reduce the tempo such that riders and horses positioned behind his mounts are not provided with adequate time to respond to the change of tempo.
Passing the 1300 Metres, FORTUNE MASTER shifted out away from the heels of TSUEN WAN GLORY, resulting in CONCERTO being bumped and taken wider. CONCERTO was then steadied to obtain cover behind FORTUNE MASTER approaching the 1100 Metres.
Passing the 900 Metres, FORTUNE MASTER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DAZZLING FELLOW which got its head up when racing behind HANG’S CHOICE.
SMILING FACE was left racing wide and without cover after the 700 Metres and near the 600 Metres was bumped by CONCERTO which shifted out from behind DAILY BEAUTY.
After the 700 Metres, GLORIOUS LOVER raced tight between GOLDEN FOUR and BLUSTITCH which initially shifted out before being shifted back in.
At the entrance to the Straight, FORTUNE MASTER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DAILY BEAUTY when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running.
Near the 75 Metres, DAILY BEAUTY shifted out and brushed FORTUNE MASTER.
Mr W Y So, trainer of HANG’S CHOICE, reported that he instructed Jockey M F Poon to ride HANG’S CHOICE positively in the early stages from the outside barrier and if possible follow SHENRON which was drawn immediately inside HANG’S CHOICE as that horse was anticipated to lead the race. He said HANG’S CHOICE had been disappointing in its races and therefore he elected to have the horse ridden more positively in the hope that this may result in it finishing its race off better.
After the race, it was reported that CONCERTO had bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of BLUSTITCH immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, BLUSTITCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN FOUR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FORTUNE MASTER, DAILY BEAUTY and SMILING FACE were sent for sampling.
