BRIGHT KID was withdrawn on 17.1.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter KUNGFUMASTER PANDA (H Bowman). Before being allowed to race again, BRIGHT KID will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINNING STEPS was slow to begin. ROBOT WARRIOR shifted out on jumping and bumped KOWLOON GREAT. BLASTOISE was tightened for room at the start between KUNGFUMASTER PANDA and MANAGEMENT FOLKS. After this, KUNGFUMASTER PANDA was shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier. After then being ridden along for a short distance, MANAGEMENT FOLKS was left racing wide and approaching the first turn after the 2100 Metres was steadied to obtain cover at the rear of the field. After the 2100 Metres, FLYING MIGHTY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SUNNY BABY. Near the 1900 Metres, WINNING STEPS was eased away from the heels of AMAZING BOY which shifted in. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SUNNY BABY shifted out away from the heels of VINCY. Passing the 550 Metres, SUNNY BABY raced tight outside BLASTOISE. MANAGEMENT FOLKS was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and passing the 300 Metres brushed with WONDER YEARS. Then passing the 200 Metres, MANAGEMENT FOLKS was steadied when held up for clear running behind AMAZING BOY and BLASTOISE. After the 150 Metres, WINNING STEPS was steadied away from the heels of WONDER YEARS after shifting out towards that horse which was improving into tight running inside AMAZING BOY. A veterinary inspection of ROBOT WARRIOR and WINNING STEPS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. WONDER YEARS, KOWLOON GREAT and HAPPY ANGEL were sent for sampling.
